A MAGIC World CC HE HAND is quicker than the eye, is a statement which members of Miss lidith :anders lXlagician's Club can prove to all doubters. Their club periods are kept interest- ing by members' demonstrating tricks which they have witnessed or heard about before, The students also learn the many methods used by professional magicians. Patter, the small talk used to divert the audiences attention from the trick, is among the more important. ln recent years magic has taken into its scope the use of chemicals, Magic is no longer dark, mysterious xyitcheryg it is a science. Alumni magicians Karsten Aarhus and Robert Kappelman appeared as guest performers at dillcrcnt meetings. and William Rohrer told ol his experiences in training at the Great Lakes Naya! trikes Up Our Alleyg Big Scores We Tall OXIPILTIXG w ith one another during club periods for the past year these girls have now lseeome high scorers in the world of bowling. Besides increasing scores they have really done something toward attaining good form. Although the members knew little about the game at the beginning of the season, the elub has turned out some bowlers who can make scores which sound anything but arrateur, and the girls are getting more and more of those longed-for strikes After learning the essential ponts of the game they lcegan to center attention on improving their technique and increasing scores A unii tue feature of this elub, eash awards offered to the highest scorers, probably helped to I-oosl these points Anna Mae Ciherny, Colleen Miller, Lois Nick, and Shirley Kretche hold the four regulation offices ONE of the girls in the junior girls' bowling group were greenhorns at the beginning of the year, They had learned the game but they wanted to perfect their aim and their technique in getting the ball down the alley instead of the gutter. Teams were organized for competition with other groups of the club. Tournaments were lined up, and according to the girls a great time was had by all. Xliss Lura McDowell supervised the group until the end of the first semester, when Miss julia ylanecelt took over the sponsorship. Frances Heels acted as the clubs president this year and Audrey Kolar was the treasurer. 1 PAGE 30
