X ,s council 1 .. u 1 . Students Mlnd HEY are the students who spice Lincolns lite with activity, and yet manage to help keep the school sell-governed. Elected to their positions each tall, they are soon plunged into a whirl ot Tuesday-noon meet- ings and hot debates. Last September brought the Activity Ticket to Lincoln. The Council breezed through campaign and promo- tion, collected money, and distributed sticky stamps. They've added the Crystal Ball tor decoration ot dances, promoted the sale ot War Stamps and Bonds. They've helped with Career Day, given the Activity q.,,,.,w' Banquet, and-a host ol other deeds. Donald Pauly, Ianet Berkedal. and Ernest Wal- ters. Council members. proudly display the Crystal Ball oi shining mirrors devised to h'gh- light school dances. They Were unable to attend the usual number of out-of-city tournaments and the state finals because of the difficulty of obtaining pri- vate cars. Lincoln debaters participated at the Marquette debate clinic and in a tournament at Sheboygan. They were popular guests at city club meetings and demonstrated their skill before high school classes. Declaimers and orators were able to go to one tourna- ment at Sheboygan. While there, they did exception- ally well by Winning twenty-five places. Forensic advisers - Mr. Frank A. Novitski, Miss Lillian Miegel, Miss Lorraine Anderson. FIRST DEBATE TEAM Upper - Row I - Erwin Meser, Donald Mueller. Row 2-Loris Houghton, Margaret Voss, members of the first de- bate squad. DECLAIMERS Center-Row l-left to right-Gail Whitaker, Helen Ieanne Ledvina, Floraine Wehrwein. Row Z-Marie Loef, Betty Iane Lewis, Eleanore Esserman, Loris Houghton. These girls made a remarkable showing in the field of declamation. ORATORS Lower left, Row 1-left to right-Bernice Rapp, Patricia Bonar, Gloria Glarider.
