SCHOOL HEADS Deciding when vacations should be, what new equipment is needed and how to solve the many problems concerned with the running of the Ferndale School District are the duties of the superin- tendents. On the shoulders of the prin- cipal and assistant principal go all the problems of a large high school. Their duties include maintaining order through- out the school. disciplining students when the occasion calls for it. and making sure their teachers, conduct remains on top. Our growing counselor stall has the big job of scheduling classes for each student twice a year as well as making sure stu- dents are attending their classes regularly and keep their marks on the proper level. ENGLISH The capable members of the English de- partment do much to provide the neces- sary education for writing to obtain the most effective results. Reading and speak- ing are also major concerns of this depart- ment as is revealed by courses such as journalism. drama. American and world literature. literature and composition. bus- iness English. and radio speech. which are expertly taught to maturing Lincoln- ites. LAXCLAGE French. Spanish and Latin are the exer- popular language courses offered at LHS. Each language course consists of four semesters. the first two in which the pri- mary emphasis is placed on acquiring the vocabulary necessary to carry on every- day conversation and doing simple read- ing and writing. The last two semesters are devoted to reading literature of the country. studying advanced grammatical factors. and becoming better acquainted with the cultural aspects of the foreign land.
