' J 1 1 I J . . . . 1 1 ' DEBATE Row 1 Mr Perry Bill Johnson Eva Stern Margaret Padden Row 2 Paul Marsh Thatcher Root The second year for Lincoln s Debate Team ended on January 5 when the team was defeated by Pershing High of Detroit The coach for the team was Mr Perry of Coolidge School and officers of the club chosen at the beginning of the year were President Bill Johnson Secretary Treasurer Eva Stern While the material for the debates was being prepared meetings were held after school as often as possible and in the evenings at the houses of the various club members A league was organized consisting of Hazel Park, Pershing of Detroit, and University of Detroit High School. The league was called the Eastern Michigan League and all the schools in the sports league were invited to Join. They de clined as they had no debate teams. As there were only four schools in the league, the debate schedule consisted of only three debates. They also joined the National Thespian Society and entered the National contest in May.
