We assumed a debT oT eighT dollars aT The beginning oT The semesTer, which was Tor equipmenT in The aquariums oT The biology deparTmenT. We sponsored moving picTure shows every Wednesday aTTernoon Tor some Time in order To pay off The debT and Tor currenT expenses. This was necessary, as The club does noT levy any dues. AT our monThly evening meeTings we had spealcers who 'rallied To us upon some scienTiTic subie-cT. Among Those whom we have heard were The direcTor oT The Michigan Humane SocieTy, who illusTraTed his Tall wiTh moving picTures: Mr. Horn, who spole on indusTrial Russia, and Mr. Friedland, who spolie To us on radio and radio broadcasTing. The Science Club plans To cooperaTe wiTh The STudenT Board and The biology deparTmenT in improving The lawns and shrubbery arc-und The school. Cwing To The graduaTion oT MargareT Shoemaker and The resignaTion of George Qhanley, Twii vacancies were IeTT in The oTTices oT The club. To Till Them Douglas BaThey was elecTed vice-presidenT and J. Terence Moore was elecTed Treasurer. The purpose oT The club is To TurTher beTTer Tellowship among leTTer winners. Only boys who have earned varsiTy lefrers in aThleTic compeTiTion may ioin The club. During The spring of I932 The L Club sponsored a banqueT Tor all boys who had earned eiTher varsiTy or reserve Team leTTers. The bangueT was a huge success: more people came Than planned Tor and conseguenTly some did noT geT Their dinners. The principal spealcer was David L. l-lolmes, aThleTic direcTor Trom DeTroiT CiTy College. Some of The boys broughT Their TaThers and everyone had a good Time. The members oT The club acT as ushers To all home baslceTball games. They also Talce care oT The TooTball games: ThaT is, rallying The score board and helping The specTaTors oTT The Tield. The club had aT iTs lasT meeTing oT The l932 spring semesTer a special iniTiaTion Tor The Traclc, Tennis and golT members who had earned Their TirsT leTTers. The iniTi- aTion was a greaT evenT and everyone was pleased, even The scums who had weaThered The hazards were glad To be in such an incomparable organizaTion.
