This was a combinaTion oT grades IThe ninTh, TenTh, elevenTh and TwelTThJ, noT each grade separaTe as usual. All The Teams were as- sembled, buT The TwelTTh grade was unable To Take parT because some oT The members were Tak ng a TrigonomeTry examfnaTion. The elevenTh grade won and conseguenTly The eleven B's and A's goT 50 po'nTs: The n'nTh grade came Second and The TenTh grade, Third. NexT in order came bowling, which Took place in inTramural sporTs Tor The TirsT Time. This year. Bowling sTarTed Through The eTTorTs oT Bob Fowler, who obTained a reduced bowling Tee Tor The boys Trom lvlr. OsTrander. All grades had Teams repre- senTed in The bowling conTesT excepT The QA, who were unable To Tind boys in Their class wiTh The proper experience. The Teams paired OTT wiTh The winners oT The pairs playing each oTher unTil all buT Two were oliminaTed. The Tinal game Tor TirsT division was played beTween The IOA and IIB, wiTh The IIB winning by Three poinTs Ia very close game Tor a championshipj. The Tinal sTandings Tor bowling were: IIB, TirsT3 IOA, second: IOB, Third, and The IZA, TourTh. Then The mosT inTeresTing and spec- Tacular evenT oT The inTramural program goT under wayibaskeTball! The IlA's, champions oT lasT year, came back wiTh a sTronger Team Than before. They had one deTecT in Their line-up, which was The lack oT an experienced cenTer. The IlB's, who were runners-up To The llA's, had a powerful oTTense buT lacked The proper deTense To sTop The aggressive drives which Take place in inTramural conTesT. The I2A's had a well balanced Team, buT iT couldn'T be compared wiTh The TasT playing elevenTh grade quinTeTs. IT was a combinaTion oT ready Team work, noT in- dividual sTars. The l2B's managed To beaT mosT oT The oTher Teams by The spiriT which Their boys had. IT seemed, no maTTer how Tar behind They would be, They would soon climb To Take The lead. AnoTher Team which in The pasT has always been Tamous Tor iTs showings is The 9A's. They consisT greaTly OT inexperienced players and wiThin Time They will, wiThouT much doubT, win The baskeTball championship. Then aTTer The VarsiTy season was ended The inTramuraI round-robin oT baskeTbaIl sTarTed. The Teams Trom diTTerenT home rooms were To play Tor Three weeks and aT The end of This Time The Tour leading Teams were To meeT each oTher Tor The championship. The boys who had played on The VarsiTy Team were eligible To play in The round-robin, before The season They were noT allowed To play. AT The end oT The Three weeks The IIB's were leading, wiTh The 9A's and IZB's occupying second and Third places in The order menTioned. The IZA's and IIA's were Tied Tor TourTh place. Then They played oTT Their Tie and, because oT The TacT ThaT The IZA's only had Three oT Their regular men, They losT by a score oT Z8-I7, having beaTen The IIA's previously. The capTains Trom The Tour leading home rooms drew To see which Teams would oppose Them in The championship play-oTTs. The 9A's were To play The I IB, and The IIA were To play The IZB. BoTh The elevenTh grade Teams emerged vicTorious and consequenTIy The IIB's played The I IA's Tor The championship, The same Teams opposing each oTher as IasT year, This was a game ThaT surpassed any VarsiTy baskeTbalI game played ThroughouT The enTire season. The I IB's wore The reserve baskeTbaII suiTs, while The IIA's don- ned The VarsiTy aTTire. Everyone Turned ouT To see The game wiTh The old spiriT which is presenT in sTudenTs when They have a winning Team. The game was eiTher side's Trom The sTarT, wiTh The Teams aITernaTing in The lead. The IIB's led aT The halT bv Tour poinTs, The score being IO To 6. AT The beginning oT The Third period D'ck I.oPreTe, The IIA crack guard, received an injury To his knee and was Torced To leave. WiTh This in mind The IIA's puT Their backs To The wall, and wiTh The help oT Bob Fowler, They obTained a one poinT lead which IasTed unTil The IasT seconds oT The TourTh quarTer, Then Dick IvIerchanT, oT The I IB's, broke Through and sank a shorT shoT which deTerrnined The vicTory Tor The IIB's-The Tinal score being I9-ZO. The Tinal sTandings Tor The baskeTball season of inTramuraI sporTs are: IIB, TirsT: 9A, second: IZB, Third, and IOA, TourTh. The Teams Tor The diTTerenT home rooms are as Tollows: IZA-Shanley, Frye, IvlarTins, Quinlan, Brill, KosTer and Jackson. IZB-Krupka, Neal, BurT, Welch, SeverTs and Williams. IIA-Nannen, LoPreTe, McCall, Fowler, Jelsch, Barr, GaIbreaTh, Taylor and Eichen. IIB-PoulTen, Close, RecTor, IvlerchanT, I-Iood, I-Ielmrick and SmiTh. IOA-ChaTTee, Main, Moran, Neal, I-Iall, I-lood and Moran. IOB-Fisher, PanTiIlon, Finch, Kalin, Lewis, STone and Irwin. 9A-Wilson, IvlarTin, Rogers, Dean and Cheek. lnTramural Track was run olif aTTer baskefball and The IZA class won The Track meeT. The meeT was a conTesT beTween The IZA and I IB ThroughouT The enTire evenT. ArThur RecTor and Dick IvlerchanT were high poinT men Tor The I IB, while I-Ierb Lash capTured scoring honors Tor The IZA wiTh I6 poinTs. The Track meeT was a specTacuIar evenT wiTh more people wiTnessing The meeT Than ever beTore.
