THE PRESIDENT- l932Iu O CLASS HISTORY Life is like a dirf road wifh ifs ups and downs, and school is no excepfion, as we have found. Our firsf experience on fhe road of school life began in our Sophomore year and ended in our Senior year as graduafes of high school. The class of I932 sfarfed ifs long hard frip fhree years ago. We found our head- quarfers in fhe cafeferia. Miss Guefschaw and Mr. Shorff, our fraveling consulfanfs were up on fheir foes 'reaching and preparing us for fhe long journey which confronfed us before graduafion. Af fhe sound of all aboard, we found ourselves being ably marshalled fo our places by Harry Wills, assisfed by Beffy Hoag. A running accounf of our journey was kepf by Helen Soufer, while all financial problems were handled by our efficienf freas- urer, Roberf Bell. Our feeling of good fellowship exfended fo ofhers besides our own parfy and we found ourselves near fhe end of fhe firsf lap of our journey presenfing a cup fo one of our fellow passengers, Dorofhy Pafnales, fhe besf all around girl grad- uafe of fhe year. A shorf sfop over enabled us fo enjoy a well planned picnic af Bloomer Sfafe Park. We sfarfed fhe second lap of our journey wifh fhe Library as our headquarfers wifh fhe sign of our class moffo above fhe door, VVisdom Comes buf Knowledge Lingers. Harold Leever, our new conducfor, and his assisfanfs, Dorofhy Howard, Helen Soufer, and Howard Lewis, were gaily dressed in fheir new uniforms wifh rose and silver braid. We 'rraveled along af a greaf pace and found ourselves in luxury affer displaying a successful picfure, called Chang, fo fhe ofher passengers aboard. To while away our idle hours we puf on a magazine campaign and were highly grafified wifh fhe resulfs. Here our conducfor, baggageman, and brakemen were changed fo Harry Willis, Helen Soufer, Janefh Willey, and John Barger. Af varying infervals we sfopped fo cheer our boys af fheir foofball games and upheld fhe financial end by selling mums and candy. Once again we sfopped af Bloomer Sfafe Park, where our appefifes were appeased wifh hof dogs, buns, and sfeaks. Our Senior passengers were abouf fo leave us, so we bid fhem farewell wifh a Thanksgiving Tea Dance, and fhen we find ourselves now fhe Senior passengers, and we found fhaf fhere was sffll fime for us fo make a formal bow fo fhe deparfing Seniors af fhe Junior and Senior Prom. Then, like a house in a sform, we were hif hard on hearing fhe banks had gone back on us, wifhholding all our money. Our consulfanfs ordered fhe frain fo sfop while we puf on a parfy. The speakers came forfh wifh amusing speeches fo arouse our fafiqued bodies fo a sfafe of happiness. We again boarded fhe frain and were on our way. We held a consulfafion among fhe members of fhe class fo elecl' fhe leaders for fhe lasf lap of our journey. Harry Willis, Presidenfg John Barger, Vice-Presidenfq Alice Miller, Secrefary: and Harold Leever, Treasurer, were chosen. As we d'd nof like our old headquarfers, we changed if fo fhe old Junior sfudy hall. Since our foofball feam was composed mosfly of sfudenfs from our class, fhe re- maining sfudenfs, headed by Harry Willis, made a greaf success on selling fickefs fo our fellow passengers for each forfh-coming game. Then again we were able fo show our salesmanship by overselling our amounf of Presidenfs lannualsl fo nearly every one on fhe frain, includ'ng fhe engineer. Then came some fun: our class puf on a closed parfy, allowing no one in our privafe lPlease furn fo Page 795 -00. 25
