SENICR CLASS HISTCRY Meekly we entered the high school on that first September morning in 1952. knowing we would face a tormenting year as freshmen. The seniors just brushed us aside with obvious scorn. At our first class meeting we elected the following class officers: Karen Grubenla, presidentg Gerald Anderson, vice-presidentg Sylvia Hautaluoma, secre- taryg and Orrie Stenroos. treasurer. We returned in the fall to our sophomore year. feeling a little superior. At least we weren't freshmen anymore. There were twenty-three ambitious students. The class officers elected were Orrie Stenroos. presidentg Sylvia Hautaluoma, vice-president: Barbara Juntunen. secretary: and Lois Duzan. treasurer. Soon school ended and vaca- tion time peeked around the corner. At last.our junior year was at hand, and we could finally call ourselves upper classmen. Now there were twenty sophisticated students who resumed their studies. We elected Shirley Ceaglske. presidentg Alice Hongisto. vice- presidentg Barbara Himango, secretaryg and Karen Grubenla, treasurer. Our class play, Let Me Grow Up , under the direction of Mrs. Blanche Pergol, was a big success. Finally came our first formal event of the year--the junior- senior banquet held at Hotel Duluth. Nineteen faithful students entered The Big Year with the usual air of sophistication. This was what we had been waiting for, However. being seniors, we had much work to do. Our class officers were Donald Raisanen. presi- dentg Shirley Ceaglske, vice-presidentg Sylvia Hautaluoma, secretaryg and Eleanor Blegen, treasurer. We regret, as this annual goes to press. that all our yearly events cannot be includedg namely, the class play, the Prom-Banquet, Baccalaureate Services, and the momentous day of all--Our Commencement Exercises. 38 HTHLETICS BASKETBALL TEAM SEATED: Orrie Stenroos, Davis I-Ielberg, Sherman Johnson, Captain Ronald Vukelich, David Mattinen. We, the Senior class, leave to Mr. Nelson a package of gum. We,the Senior class, leave to the Juniors our ability to pull the wool over the teachers' eyes. May the wool stay there all through your senior yearg otherwise, you will never make the grade. Also we give to you the chance to pattern your lives after us and be the same perfect models. I, Donald Raisanen, leave Mary Ann Johnson with a Hands Off sign. I, Edward Hennum, leave the use of my Model T to Judy Napola and Eloise Debele. I, Carol Erickson, leave all my dates and sleepless nights to Shirley Lawson and Clara Lou Baisley. I, Patricia Oja, leave my cheerleading sweater and culottes in the hands of Tom Bergstedt and John Harney who should make very good use of them. I,Irene Johnson, leave my piercing screams to Norman Ikola, Edwin Pantsar and Rodney Ikola. I have enough for all of you. I, Barbara Juntunen, leave both my marks and remarks in Bookkeeping to Beverly Nieminen and Helen Granholm. I, Karen Grubenla, gleefully leave my love for school to Franklin Mannila, David Mattinen and Daniel Sarkela. I, Alice Hongisto, leave nothing to Leona Liupakka and Linda Larson just for kicks. I, Gerald Bohren, leave my position on the football team to Sherman Johnson and Arthur Manisto. Maybe together they can fill my place. I, Shirley Geaglske, leave my giggles to Bradley McKinstry so he can carry on in next years science classes, I, Edith Pantsar, leave my quiet ways to Marlene Lyytinen and Barbara Bur- graff who can sure use them. I, Ethel Pantsar, leave my place in Mr. Ferguson's heart to Gail Nickila if she can find it. I, Orrie Stenroos, leave and will not be back. We, the Senior class, leave because we've served our term.
