SENIOR CLASS HISTORY After eight long years of perspiration the eager and confused freshmen be- gan their eventful high school careers. Our able class advisors were Mr. Robert Bowman and Mr. Michael Hnatko assisted by Ernest Bylkas, presidentg Richard Smith, vice-president, Kathleen Juntunen, secretary, and Edna Pyk- konen, treasurer. In the following fall, twenty-eight members of this famous class returned to resume their studies as nonchalant sophomores. The hard-working officers were Ernest Bylkas, president, KathleenJuntunen,vice-presidentg June John- son, secretaryg and Joyce Kalli, treasurer. We were under the excellent guid- ance of Miss Kathryn Andres and Mr. Leslie Knuti, who played an important part in planning a very successful Sok-Hop. After three short summer months of vacation we returned to school in the form oftwenty-sevenjolly juniors. Our officers of the year were Ronald Wa- terhouse, president, Warner Johnson, vice-presidentg Carol Hendrickson, sec- retaryg and Kathleen Juntunen, treasurer. Our first great undertaking was our junior classplay, Miss Jimmy, directed by Mrs. Blanche Pergol. The spring of the year found us with the first formal event of our high school days--the junior-senior banquet held at Hotel Spalding. September 7, 1954 marked the beginning of the last year of our fast closing school careers. We had finally achieved the position of Dignified Seniors. Miss Steil and our principal Mr. Miles Nelson were elected our class advisors for our most important school year. Those serving under them were Ernest Bylkas, presidentg Harold Bergstedt, vice-president, Shirley Mattson, secre- taryg and June Johnson, treasurer. As this annual goes to press under the leadership of Mr. Elton Waterhouse, many events are yet to take place, namely, the senior class play, the junior- senior banquet and prom and last but not least,Bacca1aureate and Commence- ment Exercises. 15 JUNIOR CLASS First Row: Lois Duzan, Carol Erickson, Barbara Himango, Patricia Oja, Irene Johnson, Edith Pantsar, Ethel Pantsar, Sylvia Hautaluoma. LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT We, the Senior Class of Esko High School, in the year of our Lord, one thousand nine hundred and fifty-five, considering ourselves thoroughly drilled in English, Social, and Agriculture, knowing that we are the peppiest and possibly the most lovable yet to enter or leave our beloved and beautiful school, wish to leave our last will and testament to be executed in order that follows: I, Harold Bergsfedt, leave my small shoes and my shyness to Carol Erickson. I, James Bergstedt, leave my skipping know how to Gerald Anderson, who doesn't know how. I, Darwin Bottila, leave my membership in the Sunset Club to Lois Duzan. I, Roger Bottila, leave my secret admirers to Robert Wiita. I, Ernest Bylkas, leave my opinions to Orrie Stenroos, in hopes that he will use them in Social next year.
