Nixon became the first president to resign, and Gerald Ford became the first man to become president without the public vote. The Watergate scandal created much controversy, and the res- ignation of many respected officials. Inflation has hit the country causing people to hang on to their money, and go without many items on which prices sky rocketed. Locally Ellwood City was informed of the moving of two major industries, U.S. Steel and Rexnord QMathews.l The town's people accepted the news with sadness, but also with determination to make the best of the situation. On the bright side, Ellwood City now has use of Veterans Memorial Swimming pool, completely renovated. Work took all summer and continued into the winter but the finished product was worth the wait. In December, Fashion officially de- clared the mini skirt dead, and many girls started covering their knees when school started. With the longer skirts came scarves and thin heeled shoes with open toes. Both girls and guys are wearing hooded sweaters, farmer jeans, and the new natural shoes with soles higher than the heels. Returning from last year are platform shoes, satin, glitter, camel-colored .ii at K coats, and straight-leg pants. A senior girl sums up fashion this year at Lincoln, People will wear any- thing! In 1970, when the seniors were in eighth grade, they defeated the freshman in basket- ball. As freshman in 1971, the class of 1975 came up with another victory. In 1973, the girls attempted a new sport - football. After several weeks of prac- tice, these girls walked on to the field to walk off with a victory. This year, the Seniors of 1975 continued their pre- vious winning ability. The senior girls out-played the junior girls to a score of 26-6. The girls of the Class of 1975 were fortunate to have Vince Mercuri, and joe Dil.eonardo as outstanding coaches all four years. These sports have attained much enthusiasm not only from the participants, but also from viewers. The teams have done considerably well this year despite their lack of experience. The basketball team is composed of twenty vigorous girls, coached by Mr. VVilliam Canterna and Mrs. Cheryl Lumley. They had an excellent show- ing in the 1974 Christmas Tournament, bringing home a first place trophie. Miss Gail fCookiej Freidoff performs the duties of Lincoln High's gymnastic coach. Magical Mystery Tour provided a mag- ical excursion through a land of parks and carnivals, strawberry fields, penny lane, and an elegant ballroom. The class of 1975 brought to life the Beatle's album as the theme for their prom. How the juniors could create such fantastic decorations on their own was a mystery. After many long months of work, imder the leadership of Paul DeLoia and Tish Sewall, the juniors put together their prom, held on May 18, 1974. Dark Horse provided the music for dancing and listening enjoyment. The couples were in- troduced in the new gym and walked through the decorated school to the dancing in the old gym. The week turned out to be a success and everyone had more school spirit. The Senior clam headed the collection for McGuire Home in December. Injuries hampered the team greatly as first team quarterback Mike DeLisio and haliback Larry Fazioli were out of action for part of the season. It seemed as if someone above was working agaimt the Wolverines. The players and coaches all gave 1105 but still could not put enough points on the board to catch the elusive victories. The hard running and passing of the squad could not cope with the larger schools in the M.A.C. The team did provide many exciting mements in the season such as their close loses to Blackhawk and Hopewell. You've come a long way, babyg we all have, but we're not babies anymore. We've traveled through infancy and adolescence and have reached a point of life that is now. But what is now? It seems like the end of the road, but it's not. Looking ahead, we see the beginning of a new road - a super highway. Intersections and crossings, bypasses and sideroads make up this intricate highway, and it looms ahead endlessly. We each choose a differ- enct direction, a different road. At times our varied routes will cross, as they do now. VVe have come a long way and we've still a very long way to go. The way we were is young and inexperienced. But today, looking back, we see that our lives are filled with ex- periences. There are so many people involved in these, that we care for in some way. Whether it be love or hate, these feelings are locked in our emotions. They can be taken from storage and remembered at any time. Our minds are complex memory banks, storing the infor- mation of a lifetime. Everything that we have ever done is recorded there. It is our memory. Look back to what is there. The first day of kindergarden, that time you were the star of the third grade play when your parents were so proud, yoiu' first date, and now, your graduation. Her philosophy and enjoyment of life will always be remembered by each person who came to know her. Mrs. Myers taught English for 1716 years in the Ellwood City School District starting in the Hartman School with seventh graders for two years. The last ten years were spent teaching mostly college preparatory English to juniors and seniors. Mrs. Myers was active in church and community affairs. She is past matron of the Order of the Eastem Star, P.W.H.P. of the White Shrine of jerusalem, and a P.R.M. of the Order of Amaranth. She organized Rainbow Assemblies, acted as Mother Advisor, was a Deputy and a State Executive of the Order of Rainbow for Girls. She presided at Grand Assemblies as Mother advisor for eight years and was a general chairman for Grand Asembly held at Penn State University. Traveling with the Coimcil on Intemational Relations of Topeka, Kan- sas, Mrs. Myers and her husband had the privilege of meeting Prime Minister Indira Ghandi in New Delhi and Vice President C. K. Yen of the Republic of China. Those whom she met - Shinto Priests, Christian missionaries, educators in various parts of the world, newspaper editors and journalists, U. S. Embassy officials and plain, ordinary people - were probably just as impressed by this adventurous lady as she was by them. Her concem for students was overwhelming and sincere. Both students and faculty wish Mrs. Myers the best of luck in the coming years. We will always hold this dear lady close to our hearts.
