Arthur Taggart, High School Principal. principals Mr. Taggart and his assistants, Mr. Wallace and Mr. Hennon, were kept busy throughout the year regulating every phase of life at Lincoln. Mr. Taggart was responsible for all the affairs of the school, and Mr. Wallace handled the difficult task of scheduling and rescheduling the student body. ln addition to being Athletic Director and basketball coach, Mr. Hennon was in charge of the distribution of text books and was the supervisor of all extra-curricular activities. The principal's office carried out these daily functions and also dealt with any disciplinary oriother unforeseen problems which arose during the school term at Lincoln High. Dr. Clarence Long Superintendent of Schools Charles Barnhart Director of Instruction administration As the Superintendent of Ellwood Area Schools, Dr. Long was faced with the many details involved in managing the school dis- trict. As liaison, he needed a working knowl- edge of the school district in order to present all matters to the board for consideration. Mr. Barnhart, the Director of Instruction, adminis- tered the purchasing of books and coordinat- ing of curriculum. After being introduced as freshmen to the principles of finances in general business, sophomores continued their studies with business math and Typing I. Specialized courses in business law, shorthand, book- keeping, and office practice trained juniors and seniors as future clerical workers. Dur- ing the second semester, selected senior commercial students participated in a new program, these girls were able to work as secretaries in specified local businesses and industries during morning classes.
