ACTIONS The main sports eurrirulum of Lincoln High's students was not that which the Citizens of lfllwood Ciity ohserved as the scholastic arrange- ment. Rather, l,ineoln lligh's students were seen participating in sports entirely independent of school eonnotation, showing little respect for particular skills or seasons of the year but heing as varied as the individuals themselves. Golf, a game requiring patience and reasoning, was played lu' several students in the spring and throughout the summer. Another very popular summer pastime was swimming. This aquatic? activity provided exercise and relaxation in the fresh air and sunshine. The skills of hunting and trapping were praetieed hy those lovers of nature during all the seasons. This past winter skiing, ive-skating and hoekey were especially enjoyed. An unusual diversion lor some of Lincoln lligh's students was the maintenance and handl- ing of hot rods, the modern interpretation of an nutomolvile. Through myriad forms of activity, the town was able to develop a new understanding of those individuals who previously were unknown to them. The townspeople also recognized how much more readily they could understand these people hy ohserving the sports in which they indulged.
