1 As the decade closes we look back at those who left us . Show business lost some great personalities during the 70's. The memories of these people make the entertainment world what it is today. On August 16, 1977 the father of rock 'n roll died of heart failure in his home city, Memphis, Tennessee. Elvis Presley, also known as Elvis the Pelvis because of the sexy undulating body motion that typified his style, became a star in 1956 when his first string of hits Heartbreak Hotel, Don't Be Cruel, Hound Dog, Blue Suede Shoes, and Love Me Tender - reached the top of the charts and the first of his twenty-eight motion pictures, LOVE ME TENDER, was released. Freddie Prinze of CHICO AND THE MAN committed suicide on January 28, 1977. He was a good actor and many people enoyed being entertained by him. It was a mysterious t.ragedy that shocked everyone On Christmas Day, 1977, Charlie Chaplin died at the age of 88 at his home in Switzerland. He was first introduced to America as a vaudville clown in 1910. Bing Crosby thrilled audiences of all ages with his great talent not only in singing but also in acting. He made many famous movies in his day, such as - WHITE CHRISTMAS, HOLIDAY INN, GOING MY WAY, not to forget his many road shows. Bing Crosby died as he had lived, a true and faithful son of the church int.o which he was born, a loving husband and father, a sportsman among sportsmen, and a patriotic American.
