A variety of paths, both social and academic, were provided for many dif- ferent interests, so that each of us could participate and prepare ourselves for the roads that led out of Lincoln. And where will these roads take us ? For some of us, many years of college lie ahead, for others there are special occupations and jobs. Most of us will marry and produce families, some might travel to the moon, one of us could even become a senator or perhaps President of the United States. Who knows only time can untangle the mysteries of the future. But whatever we do and wherever we go, we cannot deny the influence our journeys through Lincoln made upon our lives. Memories of high school days will remain in our minds and hearts forever: the dance decorations we planned, the spirit with which we backed our winning football team, the troubles in our English and math classes, the day we stood up for our principles at a speak-out. All these things that were so important at the time will seem trivial and we will smile at our thoughts, then turn our heads back to the present looking towards the future once again. So it is we go on--ever alive, ever forward, stately, solemn, sad, baffled, mad, happy, dissatisfied, proud, desperate, honored by men rejected by men, forever we march, we know not why nor where we go, but always forward--toward our best.
