VA RSITY FOOTBA LL The Lancers' 1963 football season proved to be their most victorious since Abraham Lincoln High School opened its doors in 1960. The team's only loss was to city champions, the East Angels; and the Lancers tied the Washington Patriots in a hard-fought, mid-season contest. Labeled as the underdogs in the game against South, the Lancers whipped the Rebels, 14-0, for 3 Homecoming Victory. Determination and grueling practice set the pace for the Lancer team and Coach John Adams . Finishinga season witha 7-1 -l-record, the varsity team placed second in league standing with 5-1-1. Recognized as outstanding players were Larry Trane and Tom Beeson as a11-city selections, and Mike Rebich and Ken Carwin as second team choices .
