avu 0. un ' 4'41 4 0 Ann! Dedication. .. He was a friendly, cheerful face in the hall; A pleasant interlude in Class The loudspeaker, the microphone, carried his voice Clearly And we listened. He was a scholarly man; a man of great learning He was a dedicated man, serving the youth of Denver for forty years. Yet he taught us humility As he rose with the Cheers at our football games Laughed with us in the lunehroom Accepted our trophies Eulogized Abraham Lincoln in his profound, inimitable way And said, with us, I pledge allegiance. We watched him. We looked into his face- And up to his image An image of greatness and dignity We will never forget. And now we feel the weight 01' sadness--as he leaves, with us, the halls the years we have learned to love together. It is to this great man, this man of relentless dedication, that we proudly dedicate the 1964 President. We see the games, the picnics, the fun. . .the lectures, the end- less study, the anxiety of exams. . .the dances, assemblies, and rallies. . .and from the swirl of memories emerge the faces--the memorable faces that are indelibly there. It is not fame these people wanted. They each had different goals. For some, achievement, attainment of a personal goal. For others, service, to the great and small. They are a chosen few, those who excel. Anyone can Choose to remain with the masses, and do it well. Yet, for some inexplicable reason there are always those who advance, who attain those heights which require sacrifice, dedication, and a self-knowledge and perspective---a perspective rare for those in youth.
