CLEMENS 13 --- BERKLEY O --- SOUTHFIELD 0 --- WALLED LAKE 0 --- FARMINGTON 13 --- WATERFORD 27 --- ROSEVILLE CENTER LINE The 1957 football record of three wins, six losses may not appear like much on the surface. However, the sparkling comeback in the last three games left everyone with a satisfied feeling. After stumbling through the first six games in disorganized, flu-bitten fashion, the team mustered a winning streak to take the final three games in shutout fashion. The sweet- est victory of the season was the Q to-Q-victory over arch-rival Centerline in the Little Brown Jug clash. Coach Saxton was ably assisted by new line coach, jim Stevenson and junior varsity coach, Bob Shankie. Co-Captains, Charles Day and Bob Martin, lead the boys through their daily paces and in their clash with the beast. -1 L toR Managers R Wright,j Medley yt ph Y W f' .fe S XJ J .1 gf 3-viii' C' lst row L. to R. This remains the mystery of the year. However, several two and four point games might have gone their way if luck would have it. The league record of three wins and seven losses was an improvement over last season. George Hatch and George Mack led the scores throughout the season. Intramural hamps Each year the combined clubs of Lincoln High School sponsor an Intramural Basketball Tournament. Boys and girls alike in each grade form teams to compete for the all school championship. A permanent plaque with the name of each winner hangs in the high school office. The games are hotly contested and all the proceeds help support the clubs of the school. Pictured here are the winners and runners-up in both divisions. The 12A Boys Team pictured above ruled the roost as intramural champions of the 1958 season. In the final game they defeated a stout 11A team 31 to 28. Runnerups to the Boys Championship was this group of 11A boys. The tournaments were held in the high school gym on Feb. 18, 19,20 and 2.5, 26. 125 I Second place in the girls division went to this group of 11B A girls, This years tournament was labeled a great success, at least the 12A's thought so. The 12A Girls Team followed the pattern and captured the Girls' version of the Intramural Championship. In the final game they defeated the 11B team 16 to 10. Each year the Assembly Committee of the Student Council sponsors various programs for the students. Some candid shots of these appear on this page, Glenn Cunningham gives advice to the boys.
