The 1956 Football Squad finished with a creditable four win, four loss and one tie record. The highlight of the season was a 14-13 w over arch-rival Center Line. The win avenged last year's defeat and returned the Little Brown Jug to the Abes for another year. The defending champions of the Inter-Lakes League slipped to third place with a two win, two loss and one tie league mark. The outstanding league game saw the Lincoln Squad wreck the Southfield Homecoming with a crushing 26-7 victory. The non-league loss to Hazel Park, 13-10, will long be remembered as a hard fought game with the emphasis on the fought. The game ended in a free for all and the long series between the schools seems to have reached an abrupt ending. Co-Captains Tom Thorpe and Orba Underwood were the spark that lit the winning fires in the Abe Camp. Captains elect for 1957, Charlie Day and Bob Martin anchored a stout line for Lincoln, Seniors Roy Abbott, Richard Kern, Richard Stafford, Paul Wright, john Kontos, john Polazzi and Fred Maru. All contributed to the winning efforts and will be sorely missed next season. Coaches Saxton, Mc- Millan, and Shankie worked hard throughout the season and are looking forward to the 1957 season with a good deal of optimism. The football squad was heartbroken when Mr. McMillan was taken ill and forced to temporarily retire to Co-Captains Managers O. Underwood, T.
