Thespians Present Gammer Gurtoq Gammer Gurton's Needle was presented as the first play of the year on Nov. l7 and 18. Directed by student teacher janet Mouser, the rollicking sixteenth-c e ntu r y play, one of the first comedies ever Written, offered excellent entertainment. Aterrific cast of stars and supporters added to the insane nonsense that was dominant throughout the play. Rob Turner as Hodge, jeff Hockley as Diccon fthe villainj, Pauline Katchis as Gammer, and Barbie Smith as the Dame Chat, were the main characters. Ca rdettes, Order of L, F Cardette legs flew both high and low at half- time during home football and basketball games. In their red and White uniforms they attempted to inject Lincoln's spirit into the crowds. During their dance in Popcycles the Cardettes performed enthusiastically u n d e r the special direction of Diane Bigbee and junior Pam Callas. Freshie- Soph Frolic and Hugh Q Lincoln's High Q te a m , consisting of Dan Boles, David Polonoff, Alan Unkeles, Captain Bill Dittenhofer, and alternate jim Miller, un- leashed a fe r o c iou s blitzkrieg, slaughtering helpless c o nt e n d e r s from Central Catholic, Reynolds, and Tigard, and returned as the first undefeated team on the KGW television program for eggheads. The team under the direction of Mr, john Hall e s tabl i s he d a record of 1085 points for its three appearances including 430 points in the final game. At mid-year, no other school had scored as many points in any game as Lincoln did in its poorest performance. As a result of the three victor ie s, Lincoln's li- brary received the Wo r l d Book Science Year, the World Book D i c t i ona r y, the World Book Ye a rb o o k and the World Book Encyclopedia. c vw ga :rf
