Courses Football, soccer, basketball, badminton, tumbling, track, and softball - these are some of the activities in which freshman and sophomore classes participate to improve their abilities and skills. In the sophomore P. E. classes, studies include health and hygiene and first aid and safety precautions. A course in driving safety informed sophomores of the basic fundamentals of the car, how it runs, plus the importance of skillful driving. Mrs. Reva Richter Girls' P. E. Additions Improve Fine Arts Department There are many additions to the fine arts department of Lincoln this year. The drama department purchased a new stage backdrop which was initiated at the annual Popcycles. ln the field of art, Lincoln has two full time art instructors this year. For the second consecutive year the music and art appreciation course was popular with students. While studying the styles and form of music, i Lincoln students had the opportunity to take part vocally in the glee clubs or the senior choir. This year senior choir acquired new white choir robes. MF- GSOYEG B911 MT- Bruce Clare Another form of musical expression is Lincoln's Vocal Music marching band, directed for the second year by Mr. Ralph Salyard. A new system of marching and formation was installed, and a dance band was organized. Career Courses Prepare Students tor Future Typewriters, sewing machines, triangles, sheaves of paper--these instruments were familiar to the Lincoln students who took business education home economics or industrial arts. The business education course included the learning of shorthand typing, bookkeeping and business law. These classes helped prepare students for future business careers. Through the home economics course, girls acquired a practical understanding of child care and guidance, finance and personal development, as well as the basic sewing and cooking instruction.
