Freshman students are placed in general mathematics, beginning algebra, or intermediate algebra classes. Geometry and senior mathematics are offered for qualified and interested students. This is the second year that an advanced course of calculus was available. Qualified juniors enrolled in a pilot class dealing with American Problems. The Western Civilization course, open to seniors, continued successfully for the third year. The department heads were involved in a district wide evaluation of the social-sciences, the purpose being to see if the scientific approach in history classes could be used to a greater extent. This will result in a Wider use of research materials . Lincoln progressed with more education in science this year by adding equipment and courses in almost every division of the science department. lVIr. Lindstrom acquired new equipment for a recently developed course in physical science which was offered for the first time this year. More new equipment such as a radiation counter and a cloud chamber were used in Mr. Richardson's applied science course, also offered for the first time. For the second consecutive year, Mr. Keith taught C. B. A. chemistry in all classes.
