By encouraging the studentto participate in activities which will broaden his interests, the school and the student are served. The student begins to understand fully the meaning of what he is learning, and to feel like an actual participant in Lincoln's achievements. Thus, education is a tool of learning, living, and thinking. The spirit of learning and teaching is not only intellec- tual, but also practical and functional.
