The squad, though handicapped by its lack of weight, played an inspirational brand of football, and at times threatened some of the most powerful teams in the league. We will lose only five of the starting eleven via the graduation and service route and should have ample reserves to fill these spots. In all, our prospects for 1944 are very rosy. ,s:, 1z2gEY'1i1. .1 Z fr,-,.gQ. . f , 5, X N zo ' ,ir r 1 at ,g 4-nm, re' A . , tgg f 4, si . .. If A i .lr - --'ef iles. 4 ' ll' r -'f g ' : e - . ' . 'E 1 ga J 5,-'3' z Basketball Although the outcome of the 1943-44 season was not too flattering, Coach Cook's bas- keteers turned in some fine performances. Three pre-sea- son victories, one over Oregon City and two over Central Catholic High, together with a double drubbing of Sabin, was the extent of the Cardinal victories. GL Al Lipprnan, Jim Snow, and Marv Brenner are the graduating seniors on the squad. Hal Mink, Dick Earl, Max Piezner, Art Johnson, Lowell Seger, Ferris Nelson, and Don Olsen will be on hand for next year. With seven returning lettermen, the outlook for the 1944-45 season is bright. To james, Kerns Bn Abbott Company, our printers, to the Oregonian and the Oregon journal, to Mr. Walter Boychuk, the Gladys Gilbert Studios, and the Clayton Greene Photo Lab.,--and to all other business establishments we extend our thanks. But more especially are we indebted to Scott Hyde, student photog- rapher, to the committees from the senior classes and the journalism groups, to the typists, the cartoonist and art teachers, to the patient statisticians,--and to all students who have helped with this project. Working together, we have produced something which we believe will help to keep fresh the memory of happy days we have spent together in spite of the war,--and shortages, restric- tions, and rationing. .41 uf A 1 Au 1 E A' A 5 Q xx A f-: - AAAAAAA PAUAASUN Lincoln s Princess of Rosario, June 1944 5 fl 1A V Mm,-152: s X 5 Ag A ' x A - f S Q Q' f A , A f W S Ai? -W 1, ijjgigi 7, lu .V 7:5 ij, W 22.
