This year a new second ediiion of Websier's New Iniernaiional Diciionary for i936 has been added io 'rhe colleciion. There are 5,278 volumes in our library, of which 2,753 are of diiierenf iiflesg The library subscribes fo 25 magazines, among which are Time, Li'rerary Digesif' A+lanfic Monihlyf' l-larper's, and Asia. Among lhe new iiciion boolcs recenlly added are Swanson's The Judas Tree. Buclcs The Good Ear+h, Eugene O'Neill's Nobel Prize edirion of Nine Plays, Winkler's The Du Ponf Dynasl'y, Fleming's Los+ Caravan, and Charnley's Jean Laiiiief' Among ihe new non-iiciion books are l-lolman's Winning Baslcef- balI, Lane's Your Carriage, Madam, Clea+or's Roclceis Through Space, and Smi+h's Men Who Run America. dl The band, in a daily practice under Mr. HandzIik's able balon, awakens Lincoln's quiel halls. Music Department The orcheslra was, in lhe beginning, lhe only musical deparlmenl of Lincoln. Mr. Carl Denlon has been direclor of lhe orcheslra for many years. Aboul nine years ago, Mr. Waldemar l-lollensled slarled lhe glee clubs here: and four years ago, Mr. Leon L. l-landzlilc organized lhe band. Following Mr. l-lollensled's resignalion lasl ferm, lvlrs. Elhel Miller Bradley has lalcen over lhe glee clubs. There are al presenl over lhirly members in lhe orcheslra. Their reperloire consisfs of slandard overlures, semi-classical pieces, and seleclions from popular operas. All boys going our for maior sporis are exempt Mr. Fabre is 'rhe boys' gym inslrucfor. l-le comes io Lincoln on Mondays and Wednesdays. To aid in leaching his classes, he chooses lhe 'ren besi boys in each class for gym leaders. These boys have formed 'rhe Boys' Gym Leaders Club. Mrs. Jean Mafhiesen is ihe girls' gym leacher, and divides her Time beiween Lincoln and Franklin. Her gym leaders have formed The Penlaihlon Club. ln ihe cold and wef weaiher classes are held in +he gymnasium, where ihe siudenis do apparaius work.
