PREFACE In this volume whose sublime chapters Are headed with proud capitals Ynu are the titles And you catch the eye. Wunknown tree The sound of the buzzer had interrupted the happy chatter of the thousand tor morei voices gathered in the doorways of Lincoln High School. The sound had been an old familiar magic. engulfing us. drawing us toward its source like the fluted melody nf a Pied Piper. This had been September 5. 1961. Autumn had rolled around again and the buzzer had signaled the beginning of the fir5t day of school. Pulses had beaten faster to match the new sparkle in the air. for we were starting the next iisuhlime chapters,, in the exciting adventure we call Education. Now the school war is just about ended. In the chapters which follow in this volume of THE BUMBLEBEE. we have attempted to capture some of this exciting adventure. You. the members of the Lincoln family. have been the iititles of these chapters, as you were in classes. in extracurricular participation, and in just plain together- ness with schoolmates. 6 You have iraught the eye in scholastic achievements. athletic prowess, in your elections and selections. and as our representatives in all things worthwhile.
