Reflections Of Green And Gold In rhe midsr of o Silver Anniversary, reflections of green and gold filled rhe hearr of every Lincoln Dear. The Homecoming Corooorion, parade, pepfesr, and door decororing conresr were adorned wirh brighr colors, while rhe rheme of our Silver Anniversary added a sparkle ro each event Ocrober 5-9 was designated Homecoming Week in 1981 Monday morning, bailors were distributed throughout rhe school and Lincoln students discussed the long list of candidates. One check for King, one for Queen, ond rhe difficult decision was mode The lights were dimmed, rhe orchestra tuned, ond rhe choir in place The royol couples were presented ro rhe classes and tools their seats beside rhe throne. Wirh a drum roll, 1980 King Paul Holmes crowned his successor, Todd Cartwright. Just a few moments later, Karen Ruud felt rhe crown of rhe queen placed upon her head by rhe reigning Mary Waters. Coronation wos followed by many congratulations ond picture-raking sessions. Friday was easily described os colorful. Green, white, ond gold cornations donned rhe collars of many students and faculty alike. Lincoln colors soon filled rhe halls when each first-hour doss decorated its door in its own unique style. Mr. Hutton's Economics class added ro its winning streak (interrupted last year) by doiming first prize. Later that day, green and gold balloons were borred into rhe air by on enthusiastic pepfesr crowd AfTer school, instruments and floats ornamented wirh green, gold and white streamers ond tinsel paraded through Druin territory. V-l-C-T-O-R-Y was rhe cheer all Dear football fans shouted after a 17-0 win over rhe Southwest Indions A donee wos held ro celebrate and reflect upon rhe 1981 green and gold Homecoming with a silver lining. With o forceful show of Deor Power, splir end Theron Johnson began rhe long yruggle ro on exciting Homecoming victory Nor to be left out of rhe festivities, Lincoln's morching musicians odded a Irrie exrro color ro rheir inspiring pregome field show Finally given o moment to relax.
