Not only are there delicious smells in this area of Bear land, but also there are the buzzing sounds of 40 Elna sewing ma- chines being used to create clothing and accessories. The home economics depart- ment has worked very hard to familiarize students with the basics in both cooking and sewing. The courses arc designed for students to develop skills and creativity in homcmaking. ART As the wheel turns ... a clay pot evolves from a wedged clay ball. In an- other art class a student is working with pastels, creating a still life. These and oth- er activities, such as sculpture and portrai- ture, keep art enthusiasts busy at Lincoln. 27

28 INDUSTRIAL ARTS Did you ever think you could “fly in a classroom? Well, our aviation classes did this year with a simulator. In fact, most of the industrial arts classes offer unique and practical experience. Lincoln’s industrial arts classes include auto mechanics, avi- ation aerospace, drafting, electronics, flu- id power automation, graphic arts, metal work technology, photography, and wood- working technology. Students have the op- portunity to do such things as enter photo contests, print up the posters posted throughout the school, do actual “hands on” work on cars (maybe even their own), and even redesign the city of Bloomington to conform to their ideas based on class experience. Ill find it sooner or later. With the deftness and concentration of a surgeon You wouldn’t dare! BUSINESS You mean there is a right way and a wrong way to answer the telephone? Yes, business students learned, and much more as they prepared for jobs in the business area or learned business skills to help them in everyday situations. Students chose from course offerings such as related of- fice procedures, typing, accounting, re- cord keeping, bookkeeping, office ma- chines and shorthand.
