Li'l Abner On Thursday, Friday and Saturday, November 13, 14, and 15 the Lincoln auditorium was transformed into the Hillbilly town of Dogpatch U. S. A. There was revealed the Saga of Daisy Mae (Jo Fischer) and Abner Yokum (Berk Hancer) who were trying to save their town and, in Daisy Mae’s case, catch a husband. They and other Dogpatch inhabitants tried to convince Artis T. Fonsdale (Cindy Kiecker) to call off the atomic bomb by proving they were a necessary town. Their necessary items ranged from the crankcase of a model T Ford to a round trip ticket to the birthplace of Elvis Presley, but in the end it was Mammy Yokems (Darla Lundy) Yokom berry tonic that saved the day. The audience seemed to enjoy the play and the cast received two standing ovations, one on opening night and the other Saturday night. The directors of the play were Mrs. Stainer and Mr. G. Barry. The student director was Steve Basiago, and Halley Leffler choreographed all dances in the play. Members of the East practice for the play. Really? You got to be kidding 1 This here's my pal, the World's Dirtiest Wrestler. Mammy and Pappy Yokum fight it out. I'm sure there's a penny around herd Surprise! Surprise! Surprise! And over here we have the National Lincoln Landmark! 28 li'l Abner

Our cheerleaders have changed appearance. Oh - we're on next. Pep Fests Remember those half hour periods in the middle of the day when everyone got together in the gym to watch the Pep Fests? The first one was the traditional bum on sophomores pep fest, which juniors and seniors thoroughly enjoyed. Diapers and pacifiers were tossed at them, and Dr. Stever even got in the act. At different times throughout the year the bruinettes and cheerleaders traded places for the day, cheerleaders became elves, and sophomores, juniors, and seniors had several races, (the seniors won all of them, of course). The cheerleaders spent hours practicing skits to perform for the school, and the bruinettes worked hard to show us new dances. After the Battle Cry, a tribute to the teams, and the school song, everyone was ready and in high spirits for that night’s games. Show me tome spirit! Pep Fest skits are getting better. Victory lor our teams! Oh! I love you Bear! Is this what goes on in the gym over vacation? Pep Fest 27
