Seventy-Six We are lucky to be living during the bicentennial celebration. It will someday be an important part of our history. I hope it helps more to unite our country. Lori Buklid 11 When I think about the bicentennial, I am reminded that our country had survived for 200 years. Sure, we’ve made many mistakes; but now at least we are mature enough to realize them. A lot of people are trying to make money off of our celebration, but I won’t buy junk - my celebration will be to contribute to the future of our nation. I am an American! A1 Galazen 10 As I see it, the 200th birthday of our country is exploited by businessmen. Commercialism takes over where the individual spirit of America is left off. The American is bombarded this ”76” by buttons, trinkets, gadgets, stickers, posters and postcards. More emphasis is put on buying these products than getting the 1976 spirit across. We should be thinking more of the point of this bicentennial than of the cheap commerical overtones that these businessmen create. Jeff Baker 12 Bicentennial 11
