The orchestra was composed of students who could play a stringed instrument and a few members from the concert band. Their daily rehearsals resulted in a Christ- mas concert, background music for the spring musical, and an All-Conference pre- sentation of the Elijah. Training in cooking, sewing, baby care, home management, nutrition, and budget- ing was acquired in the home arts classes. Home Arts I, II, and III were progressive courses that gave girls general home eco- nomics knowledge. Senior homemaking condensed three years of home economics into one year. Experiences in Clothing was a class that offered intensive study in the fine arts of tailoring. 21
