a A climb on the bluffs of Devils lake started the activities of Delta Theta Sigma. With its primary interest in the geography and conservation of Wisconsin, this organization, under the supervision of Mr. Specht, has given a wealth of information to its members. Field trips, an annual dinner, and a dance made up the outside activities ofthe club, Returning servicemen and other local people, with knowledge of areas beyond the reg- ular study, spoke to the group. The governing body, the Student Council, is composed of three representatives from each class, two elected at large, and the third the president of the class. With the help of deputies who volunteer their services, this governing body awakens in the students a sense of obliga- tion in citizenship, and has made them conscious of the need for social and self-control. Any student found violating the rules of the school is taken to court where a suitable penalty is imposed. The influence of the council on the members themselves develops initiative, ability to assume responsibility, judgment, and know- ledge of community needs. This year the student council has taken on other duties. An extensive noon hour program was worked out for those who had to stay at school during the lunch hour. This program included basketball, volley ball, ping pong, dancing and dancing lessons, movies, and other forms of entertainment.
