FREEMAN President Vice-President Seqregqry Treasurer PEP CLUB The Wisconsin Rapids Girls Pep Club is one of the most active organizations of Lincoln High. The old members looked forward to the annual initiation with much pleasure, while the new members waited with much apprehension. Each year the girls from the Iunior and Senior classes are eligible to join the ranks, always keeping the club membership to seventy-five. The aim of the club is to boost student interest and enthusiasm in social as well as athletic activities. This is accomplished by sponsoring all-school and date dances, vigorous backing of our cheer leaders, serving lunches to both football and basketball teams, decorating a large Christmas tree in the main hall, and climaxing the year's activities with a mother- daughter tea. The girls wear, as their official garb, red skirts and white sweaters with the Wisconsin Rapids monogram. AWAITING THEIR TURN AT INITIATION E! ENTERTAINING AFTER THE RHINELANDER Q 'S MARY HENKE it :IQ ALICE DIEBELS SUSAN SCHREINER DELTA THETA SIGMA To function in coordination with, cmd supplementary to the regular geography and geology work in the school, Delta Theta Sigma was organized this year by Mr. Ray Specht, head of the geography de- partment. Stimulated by the war, the iri- terest oi a large number ol geography con- scious students was directed toward this club. In addition to a geographical study of the state of Wisconsin, a special study was made of the principal countries en- gaged in this war. A collection of coins. stamps and newspapers from all parts ot the world was started, The club members also conscientiously worked on other col- lections of rocks, soils and fossils. Another project consisted ot experiments in growing various varieties ot plants. Although the club activity and interest was centered prin- cipally on these projects, some time was found for several social activities. Row 5 H Drtfman K Chrrstenson, I. Kruger, S. Hill, D. Teas, R. A MIRACLE AT BLAISE TI-IESPIAN DRAMATIC CLUB The one hundred twenty-five members helped to make this a very successful year for the Dramatic Club. At the beginning of the year the club members were divided into six groups with two national Thespians as play directors for each group. For the first time in many years Lincoln High School entered the one act play contest sponsored by the Wisconsin High School Foren- sic Association. The cast of The Eldest by Edna Ferber received an A rating in the league contest and a B rating in the district. At the beginning of the second semester the Thespians, a national honor society, welcomed and initiated many new members. That paraphrase of Caesar's victory may well be used to describe the 1944-45 Lincoln High School basketball team. Due to an unfortunate early season loss, the Red Raiders had to be content with a second place tie with Antigo in the Wis- consin Valley Conference. Although Stevens Point finished a notch higher in the standings than the Rapids Warriors, the Panthers were sent stumbling in defeat in two of the three games. Tumbling, handball, basketball and badminton are the principal activities in this program of physical development. In addition, drills to pre- pare the boys for the standard of physical fit- ness of the armed forces, is a customary part of this program. Alertness, cooperation and teamwork, and sportsmanship play a vital part in making the student socially adaptable in any situation in which he may find himself in the future. BOXING CHAMPIONS R. A welcome was ex- tended to alumni, and Lincoln High was honored to have several former students, now in the ser- vice, back to participate in the Homecoming. Preserving one of the school traditions, the Homecoming queen was chosen by popular vote, and Delores Tenpas was crowned with the usual ceremonies.
