They were District runner-ups to Boyle County. We played a lot of running basketball with pressing defense this year. This is an exciting type of basketball and pleases the fans. The Lady Pats started the same line up all year with the exception of injury play. This year’s starters were Dionne Givens, a senior guard, forward. She averaged about 12 pts. per game. Dionne was all area, all district and all region this year. She also went over the 1000 point mark to become the school’s 2nd all-time scorer. Jill Baird, a senior guard. Jill was the team’s leading scorer this year averaging 14+ points per game. She has scored 860 points in her career and ranks 3rd on the all-time scoring list. Jill also was all area, all district, and was injured in the regional tournament. Danetta Miller, senior center. Danetta averaged about 8 pts. per game and 6 rebounds, and was a big asset on the boards for the Lady Pats. The starting forwards were underclassmen. Junior Cassandra Alcorn started for her second year and averaged 12 pts. per game and was the team’s leading rebounder averaging 9. She was also all area, and all district. Sophomore Maggie Cox finished out the starting line up. Maggie also started last year. She averaged 6 points and 5 rebounds per game. Our other senior was 6th man Linda Rector. Linda played well and came in to give the Lady Pats a big boost in many other games. Other players who played and contributed a lot were Sophomore guard, Jackie Duff; Sophomore forward, Jeannie Martin; sophomore guard, Kristi Adams; and freshmen Missy Isaacs and Regina Brown. 25
