Basketball Coaches HEAD COACH Nelson Moore JUNIOR VARSITY COACH Steve Ralston FRESHMAN COACH Bill Tharp SENIORS Doug Waldroup Jason Todd Jon Moore Jim Hill George Miller Gerald Miller Jamie Henderson The } 987-88 Patriot Basketball team had a successful year in spite of injuries and the high level of competition. The Patriots competed with the state’s elite in the Panther Classic at Pleasure Ridge Park and the King of the Bluegrass at Fairdale. They also traveled to Northern Kentucky and played in the famous Classic. Some of the teams that were included on this rugged schedule were Clay Co., Pleasure Ridge Park, Fairdale, and Male. After the regular season had come to an end, the Patriots began exciting tournament play by winning the 45th District Championship. Coach Nelson Moore was extremely happy with victory and said that it was a nice reward for the seniors. The Patriots seven seniors included Jason Todd, George Miller, Gerald Miller, Jamie Henderson, Jon Moore, Doug Waldroup, and Jimmy Hill. When the season ended in the 12th Regional Tournament, the Patriots had compiled an 11-13 record, and were District Champions. Coach Moore was pleased with this year’s team and was proud of their efforts. He was also quick to add that one or two players would possibly receive a scholarship to college next year.
