Coaching Staff Lt. to Rt. Coaching Aid Jason Austin, Head Coach Larry Phillips, Asst. Coach Larry Woods, Asst. Coach Bill Tharp, Coaching Aid Bobby Wilkinson, Asst. Coach Ronnie Deatherage, Asst. Coach Tim Estes. PATRIOTS MAKE PLAYOFFS IN 1987 The 1987 varsity football team completed its sea- son with an 8-3 record. The Pats finished as district runner-up and made the playoffs for the first time since 1982. Lincoln won its first game against Boyle Co., lost to Danville, then reeled off seven straight wins before losing its final two. There were many outstanding individual achieve- ments in 1987, but the two biggest were Michael Penman’s rushing for a school record 987yards and quarterback Jason Todd’s throwing for over 1,000 yards and 40-yard average as punter. His season was capped off by becoming only the second player in school history to be named 1st Team All-State by the Louisville Courier-Journal. With only nine graduating seniors, the outlook for 1988 is very bright indeed. If the team continues to work hard in the weightroom, next year’s team could be one of the best in school history. The 1987 football season was dedicated to Keith McEI- roy, who was fatally injured in a car accident on July 24. He was a hard worker and was dedicated to making himself a better player. Keith was an inspiration to us all and we miss him.
