After four games, the of- fensive average was 18.5 and by the end of the season it was 38.0. The teams defensive average was more consistant, that being 26.1. The team ended their season with a 5-3 record overall. The eighth grade ended with a 1-7 record but played very good ball throughout the season. Our game with Midland in which we scored 36 points was our best of- fensive output. The team averaged 26 points while giving up 38.5 points per game. Just don’t stand there, Kelly! Bottom row: W. With only six girls, each had to play the entire game and all had lots of exper- lence. The eighth graders were highly competitive each game. They played with lots of desire and spirit. Her lowest finish was 20th at North Linn and her highest was sec- ond at Bellevue. She finished 12th at the districts. The remaining ten boys had a very high degree of success, winning three meets, second in one and third in an- other. This was out of a total of seven Some of our loyal fans at state meets. The team finished 4th at dis- tricts which qualified them for state. At the state meet we finished 7th out of sixteen schools. The team received a lot of leader- ship from the upperclassmen and a lot of unity was shown by the entire team. Coach Richardson was very proud of these ath- letes for their strong desire to achieve the goals they had established for themselves. They may not have achieved everything they had wanted to attain, but they learned a lot about themselves during the year. The entire team should be proud of their season. We had 20 girls out and out of those, we only had 6 upperclassmen and the rest were underclassmen. The girls set their goals high this year for they wanted to win the Jensen Relays, to be Mid-East Champs, to win our districts and to send as many as possible to state. Out of these four, they accomplished all four of them. We had four state qualifiers in three differ- ent events: Sheryl Hasselbusch, Jackie Mertka, Christie Block, and Deb Sander in the shuttle hurdle relay, Deb Sander in the High jump and 100 M. hurdles. Though the girls didn’t place in their events, they did a very fine job.
