Hats off, please, Oh, excuse me, homecoming IS an exception. LIFE AT LINCOLN ... Dressed in western attire from head to foot, the stranger drew closer, gun at his side, ready to be drawn in a second’s notice. His hat pulled far down over his eyes so only a shadow could be seen. Who was this person? As the stranger came closer, somehow he looked familiar ... ah, yes, a student from Lincoln High getting ready for the homecom- ing festivities, or was it prom? The 1980-81 school year seemed to be taking place out west with many students wearing cowboy boots and hats, and getting ready for homecoming and prom in that western atmosphere. Not only was the western scene evident at Lincoln, but other interesting events also took place. Uninterrupted Sustained Silent Reading (U.S.S.R.) was a new program during activity period to give everyone a chance to develop the habit of tak- ing the time to relax and enjoy reading. Extensive recreational reading can help you increase your rate Practicing the D’Nealian style of writing is a common scene in first grade. That's Ken Koob in case you didn’t recognize his outfit. Who would have believed we could go without our coats in January? of reading, improve your comprehension, enlarge your vocabulary, and develop a broad reading background of books and magazines. Studies show, and it has been proven effective in many schools, that it increases your reading skills but will take a couple of years of everyone’s coopera- tion to show a positive result.

D’Nealian manuscript and cursive was a new style of writing introduced to the lower grades. The transition is being made because of the easiness and legibility of this new style. In D’Nealian manuscript, all lines are made with a continuous stroke. Other programs em- phasize drawing slant lines and curved lines separately. He’s doing all the talking but I don’t hear a word he’s saying. i Mr. Richardson’s law class enjoy other sights of Cedar Rapids while on a field trip to court. Are you sure that’s the way you tie your shoe?
