They failed to win and played some fine ball at times but did not get consistent in their play. Shooting was a problem as our offensive aver- age was just 16 while giving up 42.7 in defense. This group will now be advancing to junior var- sity play where they will have to continue to improve their funda- mental skills,’ Coach Jackson commented. Scott Merfeld was the leading scorer with 34 points and rebounder. Larry Hunt was the best defensive player. Mark Dosen going in for a lay-up. 7th grade record “The 7th grade completed an undefeated season as they won all eight of their games The team played very well as they were team oriented. They used a pressing half court defense that Midland 28 enabled them to have many scoring opportunities thus producing their 40.8 offensive average Olin which is good for 7th grade. They are looking forward to next season,” Coach Jackson com- Midland C-L mented. The leading scorer was Scott Jackson with 176 points. Gutwiler was also the leading rebounder with a total of 12 rebounds. Coach Jensen commented that the girls were cooperative and showed a lot of enthusiasm for the sport.
