‘‘Looks like we Made It! ’ That sounds like something the Seniors would say after gradu- ation. Instead this was the theme for the Junior-Senior Prom. Lincoln's Prom was held at the Sheraton Inn in Cedar Rapids, Saturday April 22. We were welcomed by the Jun- ior Class President, John Money- penny. Kerry Koch, the Senior Class President, gave the response. After Jeff Schnipkow- eit gave the invocation it was time to eat. After our meal, Jeff Walshire and Jeff Schnipkoweit read the Junior Class Prophecy. Bruce Seehusen and Russ Bequeaith read the Senior Class Will. About this time the band, which was Locust, started to play. Even though they didn’t play the theme song they played some good music. At 10:30 an early bus left to take the people who didn't want to stay back home. The other bus left at 12:30. Usually after Prom a movie is held at the Tipton Theatre. This year the Juniors decided to try something different. They rented the Tipton Country Club. After Prom you could go there and play cards or pool, or even get the teachers together and play charades! Prom, as always, turned out to be one of the most special mem- ories of the year. Pool side chat?

Caught ya’ in the act! What's so funny? Lighting up the halls of LHS this year was our other foreign student, the little Spaniard with her dancing Spanish eyes, and ringing laughter, Belen Sainz de Vicuna from Madrid, Spain. Her American family was Mr. and Mrs. John Kuehnle and family. Besides goofing off, or eating at Happy Joe's you would find Belen keeping herself busy in school with gov- ernment, American history, advanced biology, art, chorus, advanced math, P.E. mythology, and drama. Besides this Belen found time to participate in track, basketball, speech contests, small group music contests, and the spring play, ‘‘Get Smart. ’ In her leisure time Belen can be found playing the piano which she has been at for eight years, playing the guitar, drawing and eating. Her plans upon returning to Spain are to take up veterinary medicine at a college in Madrid. Belen commented that her favorite American foods were pies and American style corn. She also remarked that America was too cold! LHS wishes you much success in all your endeavors, Belen, and we hope your stay in America has been an enjoyable one.
