She believes in music! Should | smile? Kristin and her American family: Shirley, Kris, Matt, Lori, Susie, and Lou Grimm All the way from Basel, Switzerland, came a happy-go-lucky girl, Kristin Metzner, one of Lincoln's two foreign exchange students. Kristin's American family was Mr. and Mrs. Louis Grimm and family. Kristin kept herself busy during the year with such courses as American lit, educational aide, typing, art, biology, government, advanced algebra and later advanced math, American history, P.E. and beginning clothing. Kristin's extra-curriculars included volleyball, basketball, track, and a part in ‘‘Get Smart, ’ the spring drama pro- duction. For hobbies, Kristin enjoys art, crafts, and skiing. When she returns to Switzerland, she will complete two more years of school and then possibly go on to college there after that. When questioned about what she liked most about America, Kristin remarked, ‘‘Happy Joe’s pizza!” Good luck to you, Kristin, in the future from all of us at LHS. We hope your stay in America was enjoyable.

Left — Smile, you're on candid camera! Above — Don't just stand there, do something! That's concentration! For the third year in a row, Mr. Wendel has drawn up the blueprints for another building and trades house. The seniors are interviewed and chosen by Mr. Wendel while they are juniors. There are 15 inthe class. This year as a new idea, the interior design class helped to pick out the furnishings for the house. With the help of some people and businesses from Mechanicsville and Stanwood supplying some of the needed materials and services for the house, the building and trades house has been a success once again. Don’t look at the camera, just keep your eye on what you're doing!

Caught ya’ in the act! What's so funny? Lighting up the halls of LHS this year was our other foreign student, the little Spaniard with her dancing Spanish eyes, and ringing laughter, Belen Sainz de Vicuna from Madrid, Spain. Her American family was Mr. and Mrs. John Kuehnle and family. Besides goofing off, or eating at Happy Joe's you would find Belen keeping herself busy in school with gov- ernment, American history, advanced biology, art, chorus, advanced math, P.E. mythology, and drama. Besides this Belen found time to participate in track, basketball, speech contests, small group music contests, and the spring play, ‘‘Get Smart. ’ In her leisure time Belen can be found playing the piano which she has been at for eight years, playing the guitar, drawing and eating. Her plans upon returning to Spain are to take up veterinary medicine at a college in Madrid. Belen commented that her favorite American foods were pies and American style corn. She also remarked that America was too cold! LHS wishes you much success in all your endeavors, Belen, and we hope your stay in America has been an enjoyable one.
