NEW REPLACES OLD The students and faculty at Lincoln will finally be getting the track and field they have long been waiting for. On September 13, 1977 the constitu- ents of Stanwood and Mechanicsville voted to sell three school owned houses to pay for the cost of rebuilding the foot- ball field and constructing a new 400 meter track. It would also pay for new bleachers on the home side and moving the old home bleachers to the visitor's side. Construction began in early November and was to be completed by spring for the track season. But because of bad weather it was not. The project will hope- fully be completed for the football season in the fall.

With the Bond issue vote on Decem- ber 6, 1977, the high school at Stan- wood will never be the same. The bond issue called for the tear- ing down of the McKinley wing com- monly called the Jr. High and replac- ing it with new band, chorus, art, and administrative rooms. On the other end of the school (the east side) there will be the addition of six classrooms. Also the area where the band room is will be a wrestling room, and enlarged boys and girls locker rooms will be included. Construction on the six classrooms onstruction began April 24, 1978, with the tearing down of the Jr. High being scheduled for May 30. We will all miss the old McKinley building, but when we think of those new facilities we've got to admit that it sounds pretty good.
