Margareta Ekstrom Everyone recognizes this blonde, blue- eyed Swedish girl as Margareta Ekstrom, one of our foreign exchange students at Lincoln. Maggie made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Meyer of Olin and her American sister, Kandie. Besides keeping busy with her studies, Margareta participated in chorus, vol- leyball, and L-Club. She was made an honorary member of the National Honor Society with a 3.4 grade point average. All of Lincoln High will miss Margareta and wish her success in the future. Good luck, Maggie!

Two hundred and twenty students are Lincoln. Not huge by any means, the student body is still large enough to reflect the diversity that always exists in groups of young people. Interests and hobbies and lifestyles, even in a small rural school like Lincoln, have a way of being slightly different from one person to another. Lincoln has full-time jocks, part-time poets, and some-times academicians. It has artists and actors, speakers and singers, good guys and bad guys. Lincoln also has Elina and Margareta, two girls who spent a year of their lives with us. No one will forget how well the young people of Finland and Sweden and Iowa came together as brothers and sisters. In a world of war and international hostility, a part of the world knew peace and friendship. Student

Elina Jalkanen From Bautalapi, Finland, came Lincoln's ยง petite, brunette foreign exchange student, Elina Jalkanen. Elina has spent her year in the company of the Norman Williams family of Mechanicsville. Since entering school in the fall, she has participated in chorus, annual staff, drama, basketball, and track. In track, which was her favorite, she earned a medal for her first place in the open mile. No one will ever forget that one, right Elina?! She will be returning to Finland in late July after a fun-filled, but hard year at Lincoln. Best of luck from LHS!
