They fin- ished fifth in the Wapsie Conference with a 6-5 record. The girls were invited to play in a Christmas tournament at Delhi. They received a trophy for first place by defeating Maquokata Valley in the finals. In their bid for state tournaments they advanced to second round play where they were defeated by Bennett. [he guard court should be commended for their fine defensive play. At one time their defensive average rated them second in the state of Iowa. The girls devoted their time and effort to the game and enjoyed every minute of it. The new friendships gained through the sport will be cher- Do you wan- ished by all. na dance? The Lincoln boys' basketball team continued as a powerhouse in the Wapsi Conference winning at least a share of it for the third straight year. They ended up tied with Oxford Junction at 10-1 in the Conference. They entered the tournaments with high hopes but were defeated by a good, fired-up Delwood club. Lincoln finished the season with a fine 16-2 record. They were good enough to be rated as high as l4th in class A schools in the state and received at least one vote in the AP poll for both A and AA schools. The team always showed hustle and desire and this, combined with hard work, led to a victorious season. Ban won't wear a Confucious say - what goes up must come down. AND TAKE THAT!!! Efforts of the student government brought our school to the recognition of radio station KSTT in Davenport and gave Lincoln a place of honor in the High School Hall of Fame. Under the guiding light of Mr. Kaefring, the Student Council attempted to revamp the Student Dress Code and laid the groundwork for bringing a foreign exchange student to LHS in future years.
