WHEN WE ARRIVED on campus in September we all had to adjust, sophomores as well as frosh. We had new tables and a fence outside the Uniong we had new boothes and the same old Mary inside. We had two new Deans of students, Mr. Hartsfield, who drove a yellow Cadillac and wore cowboy boots, and Miss Mulhollan, who wanted to be called Associate Dean, instead of Dean of Women. We had a new cafeteria manager, Mr. g'Mac , who gave us two choices of meals and two buffet tables of saladg even a daily menu so we could prepare ourselves in advance. And there was a new swimming pool, complete with piped in music and a tropical greenhouse. Though the freshmen who didnit wear their beanies suffered awfully at the hands of sophomores carrying Majic Markers and paint, they endured initiation week and went on to elect two members of the Unity Party, Mike Scannell and Tim Carlson, along with Hattie Blackwell as their class officers. Senator Paul Douglas there with President Dooleyj was speaker and honorary doctorate recipient at opening Convocation of the 1969 school year. 2 I, . are . , , W we t C ' .
