Her conniving mind has cooked up a mulitifaceted plot: marry Horace Vandergelder, millionaire, and match up three other couples on the way. What ensues is the develop- ment of one of the finest plays ever produced by the Lincoln Academy Concert Choir. “Hello Dolly” was lovingly molded by a group of megalo-talented and dedicated people. Which is not to say that all was perfect: the show’s rehearsals ran so behind schedule that the cast and crews were required to stay for long exhausting late night rehearsals. The old-fashioned dresses were a problem to find. Many of the girls brought their own. But the overall hindrance was that the cast, for the most part, did not like each other at the beginning. And this contempt showed up in the rehearsal. But there is something magical about the production of a musical — the close proximi- tives, the sweat, the worry are shared by all, and in the end, the cast and crew were brought together in an unbreakable bond to make “Hello Dolly” sparkle with glorious magic of its own.
