Behind the scenes . Students learn The American Cablevision of Kansas City, Inc. has added another program to its schedule. The program is called “The Generation Rap.” It involves teenagers and adults talking about current issues and its technical crew is made up of students from Lincoln Academy North, with supervision by GT Coordinator, Miriam Simon. The crew members are Seniors Janet MacDonald, Walter Youngblood, junior Dennis Burk, sophomores Shawn Gentry, Vicki Davis, Justina Robinson, Monica Tindall, Clarisa Reynolds and fresh- men Ellen Binder, Susan Blevins, Lisa Fillpot, Todd Norris, Dennis Price and Craig Tyson. The students are in charge of cameras, audio, video, switcher, TV world promotions, with some direct- ing the technical crew and production. “We were tired of just watching tv and not knowing how programs were made, we decided then to find out how,” said producer Monica Tindall. The students not only learn how the pro- grams are made but make it possible for everyone to see their program once a week for a half hour. Lincoln is the only school in KC to have the opportunity of working with Cablevision this way. Summing it all up best Monica Tindall said “When working with Cablevision we handle a lot of precious equip- ment and take on a lot of responsibilities which may be helpful for any job.” Pernell Carr Last minute adjustments to the switch- board by producer Monica Tindall is viewed by director Shawn Gentry. Organizations Three new groups were adopted here at the Academy. Jobs for Missouri Graduates is designed to teach students the basic essentials of finding the right job and how to keep it. “Basically our job is to make students aware of job searching skills. We make them aware of community employ- ment and give them some type of career path,” said adviser Ms. Janet Watson. Xinos, a sorority sponsored by Phi Delta Kappa, an honorary teachers fraternity, was formed to help high school ladies higher their goals of education and help make their and other communities better. They held a bake sale and visited Swope Ridge Nursing Home and Zion Grove Church. The group was sponsored by Mrs. Helen Ragsdale, social studies teacher. The third group, Micro- nauts, helped students expand their knowledge of the com- puter world. It was sponsored by Mrs. Donna Gray, math- ematics teacher.
