It is with pleasure that I have the honor of certifying you; indicating that you have completed the prescribed high school course of study of the Kansas City, Missouri School District after four years of study. Most of you I have had the unique privilege of knowing in the seventh grade at Lincoln Junior High School and have observed your development to this point. You have completed one phase of your education and for most of you, more hard work and training lie ahead if you are to achieve complete living in the world ahead. More doors of opportunity are now opened to you than to any other graduating class in history. No longer is color a barrier in preventing you from becoming what you want to be. I hope that the years you have spent in Lincoln High School have prepared you for the com- petitive society which you must face with dignity and courage. I hope that by thumbing through these pages, in the years ahead, that the Golden Days of your high school experience will be recalled vividly and that they will stand out as the best days of your youth. May the richest blessing of Almighty God be yours as you journey into an unknown future. Sincerely yours'. Harry I. Along the way, we have gathered a wealth of know- ledge and a treasury of memories. These, we guard in our hearts and in our minds—never to be forgotten or cast aside. In 1962, we clamored for our places in Lincoln High School. We became active members of the chorus, orchestra, band, Red Cross, and other organizations and clubs. In several cases, we dominated these organizations and later became their leaders. In September 1963, we moved from our seats in the balcony of the auditorium to the first floor. In addition, we gained distinction in other areas. We had lots of fun. There were plays, club activities, concerts, com- munity drives , honors, awards, and crushes . But in the midst of play there was plenty of hard work. Some of us lost sleep worrying about the math and English tests. Some of us worried about chemistry, physics, and geo- metry. All of us had some fears— real or imaginary. Our worries, our fears, our hopes, our dreams, our disappointments, our failures, our successes have all been a necessary and important part of our growing up. Now we look forward to our journey into adult life. We resolve to make the best of our lives, to become valuable members of our communities and our country. We know that this journey will be a difficult one; that it will be filled with temptations, fears, disappoint- ments, and failures. And Tho' from thy guiding hand we stray, they memories will cheer the way; O, Lincoln High O, Lincoln High.
