SENIOR CLASS OFFICERS ro-c % lit Left to Right: Almeta Kimber, Treasurer; Basil North, President; Joseph Cade, Vice- President; Stanley Benner, Secretary. Seniors Bid Farewell to Lincoln Day after day youth tv ends its way—pausing awhile—yet not to stay In September, 1951 the now distinguished class of 1955 first entered the portals of Lin- coln High School as wide-eyed freshmen; how- ever, because of the friendly atmosphere and excellent counseling from the advisers, some members of this superior class soon became inspiring leaders. Because of the hard work of members of this class, the English and Civics cup was awarded to two outstanding scholastic students at the end of the freshman year. Football, basketball and track were engaged in by mighty members of this class who were once considered to be lowly” ninth graders. They now took their place beside the giants of the upper classes. and track. Members of this class were the backbone of every worthwhile organization throughout the entire school. And, as usual, the candidate for mayor from Lincoln High School was a member of the Class of 55 . The annual junior class play entitled Bill's Night Out was a howling success. Father Time continued his journey and the already stellar class of 1955 made new advances in every field. In June, this class shall make its exit with mixed emotions of joy and sorrow—joy for being able to venture into new fields and sorrow for having to leave be- hind the carefree, happy days of youth. After completing the ever-to-be remem- bered freshman year and becoming worldly wise sophomores, the class advanced to make more news-making history within, as well as without, the walls of the Castle on the Hill. Several members boasted varsity uniforms in each sport participated in by students of Lin- coln High School. One of the highlights of the year was the election of the all-city high school mayor from this group. Yes, the class was on its way. Nothing could stop it now! It was destined to make history. As juniors the class surpassed all expecta- tions in auiieving fame in football, basketball We want our beloved faculty and admin- istration to know that we appreciate their ef- forts in bringing out the very best qualities that lie within us. We shall always love and praise Lincoln High School, not in terms of structure architecturally, not in terms of in- creasing personnel, but rather as a monument to the personal helpfulness it has given each of us and which we are sure it will continue to do in the future. We leave with the Class of 56 the re- sponsibility of upholding the ideals and prin- ciples of Lincoln High School. We charge them to do their part well.
