The girls' basketball team had a fairly successful season this year, although we do wish more girls could have taken part in this sport. Those participating were: Janice Braley, Faye Chick, Flora Jackson, Beverly Pulsifer, Jean Worden, Sylvia Pulsifer, Judy Edgecomb, .Judy Evans, and Barbara Black. We practiced two and three nights prepar- ing for our scheduled games. The girls were very pleased to have new suits this year. They were attractive royal blue shorts and blouses trimmed with white. A turkey raffle was sponsored to help pay for them. We had two girls chosen for the All Star Team, they were Janice Braley and Faye Chick. SPONSORED BY EDGECOMB'S HATCHERY IB ya 1. 'll . They were the winners of the York division of the Cumberland-York County Small Schools Conference, the runners-up in the C.Y.S.S.C. Tournament at Potter Academy, co-winners of the region two tournament, and semi finalists in the Western Maine State Small Schools Tournament. Three boys, Richard Hasty, Donald Hasty, and Richard Bodemer, were chosen for the All Star Team. The following officers were chosen: President .................. . . Richard Hasty Vice President ............. ..... J ohn Blake Secretary ....... ..... . . . . .... Janice Braley Treasurer ................................. Beverly Pulsifer Late in September, the class pictures were taken at the Jackson White Studio, this being our first class activity. Shortly following this, was the cattle judging contest which was held at Fryeburg. There, John Blake and Robert Axelsen won first prize in judging dairy cattle. On November first, basketball practice began for both the boys and girls. Those from our class participating were: Faye Chick, Janice Braley, Flora Jackson, Beverly Pulsifer, Jean Worden, Richard Hasty, Donald Hasty, Richard Bodemer, Russell Hume, Robert Axelsen, and Richard Wood. Janice Braley represented our class at the annual spelling contest which was held at Cornish. ln January, our class sponsored the Clyde and Willy Joy Show: this did not prove to be too successful. On March fifth, we held a dance at the Town Hall: this too was not as profitable as we had expected, perhaps because of bad weather. We hope to have more success with our class play, Headin' for the Hills, which will be presented in April under the direction of Miss Edith McCauley. Our class, with its seventeen members, will be the largest to be graduated from Limington Academyg we hope that we shall not be remembered for this alone. At this time, we wish to express our thanks to Mr. Fairchild, our class adviser, and to all the faculty who have devoted so much time and effort to our education. We also wish to express our appreciation to the public for their support of our activities throughout our four high school years. J. E. B.
