FOREWORD Memories arc made of those things we consider special. Though we arc all individuals, there arc many memories that we share collectively. The AMULET is our key to the recent past; a book of graphic reminders from our school year. Our memories go back to a cheerful homecoming that itself reflected the past and was titled “Through the Years. Lorie Traub was chosen homecoming queen and the dance was a big success. A dark cloud soon followed when we learned that the American Embassy in Teheran had been seized by Iranian militants. We hoped and looked for a silver lining with the quick release of the hostages. It did not come. On the brighter side, student council members collected canned goods for Thanksgiving baskets and spread good cheer to the needy. The Madrigal Dinner created a warm glow in our hearts and reflected the true meaning of Christmas. We also sent greetings for the holidays to the hostages. Spirit Week was like a big rainbow with all the colors splashed throughout the school. The Senior Class set a record by winning the spirit paddle for the third time, and having the longest spirit chain of any class, not to mention beating the teachers in the tug-of-war. We were happy to share the pot of gold generated by the Twirp Week Auction with the Crippled Children. Kevin Flcssner and Cheryl Chioni were voted king and queen of the Junior-Senior Prom and couples shared the fantasy ol ,Looking Through the Eyes of Love. Just as the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow symbolizes a fantasy, the AMULET is our pot of gold, our memories, preserved forever from that fading rainbow, the 1979-80 school year. 2
